Transformational Theatre, devised by Christina Artemis, is a synthesis of traditional Stanislavski techniques, myth, archetypes, and the dynamic use of conscious breathing. This approach explores the Shadow World as conceived by Carl Jung (20th-century philosopher), offering a powerful and deeply awakening method of characterisation.
This form of exploration is both emotionally and spiritually transformative. Rehearsals take the form of immersive workshops designed to guide artists into their deepest inner worlds through the process of creating a production. Artemis draws strong inspiration from Ancient Greek Theatre, where archetypes were used to encourage society to examine deeper aspects of the self within the safety of the theatrical space. The Greeks believed catharsis to be essential for the health of body, mind, and emotions—for both performer and audience.
Artemis Performance Arts is currently casting Persephone: Queen of the Underworld, scheduled for 12 April 2026 at the Allendale Community Centre, Wimborne. Rehearsals begin Sunday, 1 February.
We are seeking professional actors for the leading roles of Zeus, Hades, Persephone, and Demeter. Applicants must live within a reasonable travelling distance of Wimborne/Bournemouth. This is a profit-share production. While we would love to offer higher pay, rehearsals should be viewed as an intensive masterclass with an experienced director who brings over 30 years of professional theatre experience, alongside an equal number of years as a leader in dynamic conscious breathwork practices.
Ensemble and smaller roles are also available, offering opportunities for artists from the community, with or without prior experience. However, the ethos of Artemis is distinct from amateur theatre: the focus is on training, self-development, and transformational practice.
