The Cowtown Sound

The Cowtown Sound is a five piece ska-boogie band that serves up originals and oldies in a bouncing style, led by singer/drummer Daniel Nickerson. Steeped in the arts and agriculture of Humboldt County, the group features an unusual instrumentation that includes cello and singing saw, and has a cast of earthy puppet characters that appear during performances. A set of opening tunes will be provided by Julio Perdido.

This group from Redcrest, California is also associated with Cowtown Boogie Records who enjoy making music, books, and art in Humboldt County.

Also of note, Daniel Nickerson played at Shanachie a few times about 10 years ago with the folk/bluegrass duo called Max's Midnight Kitchen and we're pleased to have him back.
