In Focus: Stormy Weather

The weather affects us every day, both physically and emotionally, influencing our moods and imaginations. Artists have long been captivated by the power and beauty of the elements, using the natural world as a source of inspiration for countless works of art. Explore mid- to late-nineteenth-century paintings of the natural world in the Clark’s collection. Examine and reflect upon the way artists use elements of weather to create a sense of drama, isolation, tranquility, and even human fragility.
