Michael Butterman, Music Director
Travel through time with a concert that bridges the elegance
of the Renaissance and the brilliance of the Classical and Romantic eras. Respighi’s Ancient Airs and Dances Suite No. 3, breathes new life into centuries-old melodies, setting the stage for Haydn’s delightful Sinfonia Concertante, where four of the Williamsburg Symphony Orchestra’s principal musicians shine in a sparkling display of virtuosity. The introspective beauty of Dowland’s Lachrimae Antiquae offers a moment of reflection before Mendelssohn’s Symphony No. 5, “Reformation” brings the evening to a triumphant close—an awe-inspiring tribute to history, faith, and musical grandeur.
