Roda means “Circle”

This evening will be about the sharing of indigenous music and coming together in sacred space as a circle to dance, pray, sing and listen.
It's meant to be a space to gather strength and joy.

“Rape”’ is a Sacred Medicine from the Amazon; It is used by the indigenous people for grounding, clearing and re-aligning. It is made of pulverized tobacco and ashes of tree bark.

It is applied through the nose, blown by another person through a pipe. The effects are clearing of the energetic field, clarity and grounding. There is also the chance of vomiting, although that is a rare effect.

Taking rape’ is not mandatory on this evening – you can just come to dance and to enjoy!

Txani Waninawa, Chief of the Noke Koi Tribe

Txani is a Chief and great master of the traditional singing of the Waninawa people and a revered guardian of Noke Koi culture.

He began learning the traditions of his people at the age of ten, guided by his grandfather, mother, and uncle - all highly respected traditional singers.

From them, he absorbed the songs, stories, and sacred knowledge that now shape his path. His mother Yaka is 88 years old and still teaching him.

Today, Txani works with sacred medicines alongside his community, sharing the healing traditions his people.

Txani invites all to come learn, share, and connect with the Waninawa family!

Mani Waninawa

Mani is the son of Chief Txani Waninawa.

He began his path of learning at the age of twelve, first through working with sacred medicines and later by immersing himself in the traditional songs of his people.

As the oldest Txana in the village, Mani is a dedicated practitioner of traditional singing and works alongside his father in the village, supporting the continuation of ancestral healing practices. He serves as a youth leader, inspiring younger generations to stay connected to their roots.

A talented musician, Mani has received the full transmission of his father’s knowledge to continue working in their lineage.

He lives in the village and dedicates himself to researching and deepening his understanding of Noke Koi culture, carrying forward the legacy of his people with devotion and skill.
