Chris Cutler - percussionist, composer, lyricist, author and broadcaster.
Best known for his work with English avant-rock group Henry Cow, Cutler was also a member and drummer of Art Bears, Cassiber, News from Babel, Pere Ubu and Gong/Mothergong.
He founded and runs the independent label ReR Megacorp and the art distribution service Gallery and Academic.
Tim Hodgkinson is an English experimental music composer and performer, principally on reeds, lap steel guitar, and keyboards. He first became known as one of the core members of the British avant-rock group Henry Cow, which he formed with Fred Frith in 1968. After the demise of Henry Cow, he participated in numerous bands and projects, eventually concentrating on composing contemporary music and performing as an improviser.
Chris Cutler and Tim Hodgkinson have been working together since 1971: for 7 years in Henry Cow, then in concert and on record with The Work, with Nikola Kodjbashia, on music for choreographer Fabien Prioville's Pina Bausch's Cafe, in various improvising ensembles and with ex members of the Plastic People of the Universe on a celebration of the Czech poet Ivan Jirous. They are both still members of Iancu Dumitrescu's Hyperion Ensemble and Hyperion International. Chris and Tim first played as a duo in 1983. In 1995 they toured Norway in the Nie Musik programme, and in 96 they played in the ISCM Evenings of New Music in Bratislava. In 2019 they toured Germany playing eight concerts as part of the NRW Soundtrips programme.
