As most of you know, I only have 4 shore dives left to do before I complete the ‘Top 100 British Shore Dives’ book by Anita Sherwood. This is a quest I have been on since receiving the book as a Christmas present in 2011. It has taken me to some of the most beautiful places in the UK, I have met an amazing array of people along the way, got into serious amounts of trouble (like really big time!) and there have been many fallouts as I have dragged my long standing dive buddies up actual mountains with all their kit, only to find a swimming pool sized pit at the top!!!
So do you fancy joining me in what I hope will be the last chapter of this book (weather permitting)? After all, I have to clear this one off the list before I make a start on the new ‘50 Favourite UK Dives’ book that has just been released!!! Lol!
With a plan to base out of Staxigoe near Wick on the north east coast and travel around the northern coast to complete the dives. Obviously making stops at the famous John O’Groats signpost, Rock Rose Distillery and Dunnet Bay. There is plenty of sightseeing, diving, snorkelling and wild swimming to be done in this beautiful part of the world.
Dates: Travel to Staxigoe, near Wick on Saturday 27th September and travelling home on Thursday 2nd October 2025.
Diving: All diving will be shore diving.
Airfills: Dunoon Divers will be taking a portable air compressor.
Accommodation: North Brae Cottage, Staxigoe as it overlooks the harbour which is one of the shore diving sites for the trip. It has 2 x double rooms, 1 x twin rooms and 1 x single room. Accommodation may include sharing a twin room. Bed linen and towels are provided.

You would be very welcome to find your own accommodation.
Costs: £200pp for 5 nights accommodation and diving, including airfills. Travel, ferries, food and drink will need to be paid for separately.
If you are organising your own accommodation but planning on diving, the only charge payable to the club upon booking will be £35 for the use of the compressor. This will cover your air fills.
Minimum Qualification: This trip is open to all, including Ocean Diver trainees. You are welcome to come for snorkelling and wild swimming too.
Non Divers: Non divers, family and friends are very welcome to come along and take full advantage of the accommodation and the beautiful scenery. You are welcome to come for snorkelling and wild swimming too.
Balance: the balance is due by 29th August 2025.
