✨ Memorial for Cedric “CJ” Lofton ✨
On September 27th at 7:00 PM, we will gather as a community to honor the life of Cedric “CJ” Lofton—a bright, loving, and full-of-potential young man who was taken from us far too soon. Cedric was only 17 years old when he was murdered while in custody at the Sedgwick County Juvenile Intake and Assessment Center (JIAC). Despite the clear injustice and the pain carried by his family and community, no staff have ever been held accountable for his death.
This memorial is more than a vigil—it is a demand for remembrance, truth, and justice. We will come together with music, spoken poetry, candles, and a moment of silence to not only honor Cedric’s life but to stand against the systems that failed him.
We refuse to let Cedric’s story be forgotten. His life mattered. His dreams mattered. And until there is accountability, we will continue to speak his name and demand justice.
🌹 Please bring your own candles if you can—some will also be provided.
🕊 Location: Juvenile Intake & Assessment Center (JIAC), 700 S Hydraulic Ave, Wichita, KS 67211
Let us gather in love, grief, and resistance as we honor CJ and remind this city, this state, and this country that his life mattered and justice delayed is justice denied.
All are welcome. Together, we will remember Cedric Lofton and recommit ourselves to the fight for justice
