Okay local ladies, I need help! As most of you may know, October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month which is a cause near and dear to my heart.
I'm planning an event that I want to be a huge success and I need help getting the word out! I want to do a group photoshoot to bring awareness to ALL types of DV!!! Here's the thing, I want it to be more than just a photoshoot though. I obviously want the photos to make an impact, but I had an idea too! I want to take a suggested donation of $20 per individual, combine all donations, then draw names of the participants to bless?? Kind of like a raffle! So you would have the chance of winning your donation and more back!?
For the photos, I'm thinking all things creative! It could be the black words written on your skin, money out of your reach, we can "fake bruises", show scars, etc? I'd like family and friends to participate too if they would like. Maybe your mom praying for you and reaching out for you. Maybe your best friend literally fighting to pull you out of the trenches. I want these to be very raw and very eye opening to the public.
Most of all, I want each individual to feel EMPOWERED that they were able to make it out of what seemed impossible! I want to show other women that they CAN survive and come out better on the other side!!! Maybe just a side by side of a picture of when you were stuck vs the badass that you've become?!? I'm down for anything!!! If you have ideas, hit my inbox!!!
