Defend Democracy ICT – Weekly Saturday Protest
⏰ Time change: Starting Saturday, October 4, we move to a 12:00 PM start with remarks at 1:00 PM. Through Saturday, September 27, we’re still on the 10:00 AM start / 11:00 AM remarks schedule.
Where: Downtown Wichita at Douglas and Broadway. This location is nestled between Senator Marshall and Senator Moran's offices with plenty of space to spread out and expand up and down Douglas.
Who: Everyone who believes in democracy, dignity, and safe communities.
Why we gather:
We show up for voting rights, fair representation, public education, workers’ rights, reproductive freedom, LGBTQ+ equality, gun safety, immigrant rights, accessible healthcare, and the basic promise that government should serve the people—not the powerful.
What to expect:
>Peaceful, family-friendly demonstration with signs, chants, and short remarks.
>Space for community groups to table and share resources.
>Clear safety guidelines and de-escalation practices.
>How to plug in (volunteer roles):
>Setup (arrive 30–45 min early)
>Chant leaders
>Safety monitors / de-escalation
>Voter info station
>Community/Partner Liaison
>Cleanup crew

What to bring:

We stand for nonviolence, inclusivity, and respect. No hate speech, harassment, or provoking confrontations. Follow all lawful instructions from event leads and safety monitors.
