GARDENING SERIES: SEED STARTING WITH SOIL BLOCKS

Come join us in the upstairs Classroom to learn about using soil blocks to start vegetable and flower seeds to save space and reduce the use of plastic. We'll discuss how to make the soil ready for the blocks, and you will have a chance to try making your own blocks and be able to take home your own small tray of them! Martha Bryan of Wilder Flowers will demonstrate how she uses the blocks and cares for the plants while waiting for planting. Bring all your questions about seedlings and flowers!

Martha Bryan, owner of Wilder Flowers, has a small flower farm in White River Junction, Vermont where she grows all kinds of perennial and annual flowers. She sells bouquets in mason jars at a flower stand on her farm and in paper sleeves at the Upper Valley Co-op. It is a seasonal flower farm, so the bouquets reflect whatever flowers are blooming each week. She grows everything without the use of chemicals and uses no-till practices for the farm. She also hosts flower workshops at the farm during the growing season.
