Poetry!

Maybe you’ve “wandered lonely as a cloud”* or beheld “a host of golden daffodils”* and thought you’d like to try and transform your experience into poetry too. We often turn to poetry in moments of heightened emotion like weddings or funerals when everyday language just can’t get at the immensity of our feelings. This workshop is a chance for you to explore both meaningful and fun ways to play around with an array of poetic techniques. You absolutely do not need any experience with writing poetry at all, just a willingness to experiment with words and maybe make something wondrous happen. If you do write poetry already, you’ll discover even more ideas for extending your approach. Come write poems with us!

Jacqueline has written five books of poetry and teaches writing to painters, illustrators, and designers at Emily Carr University of Art + Design in Vancouver. She is also the mom of a certain outreach worker (shhh it’s Brennan – don’t tell him I told you!) She has given poetry workshops all over in places like Brisbane, Tasmania, Berlin, Sorrento, and Zaragoza, but prefers Whistler over all, one of the most gorgeous places on earth.
