Teas and Talks: Health, Wealth and Happiness in Weymouth Museum’s collection

Weymouth Museum has had a sporadic existence for the last decade, and most of the collections have not been on view for that time.
Since a small Lottery grant in 2022 enabled the collections to be moved to safe storage, Kate Hebditch and the team of volunteers have been working their way through the boxes so we can understand what we’ve got and what stories we can tell about the town and its history.

About Kate:

Kate has worked in museums for 35 years, including posts at Dorset County Museum, Brecon Museum, Museums & Archives London, the South East Museum Development Programme and as a freelancer. Working as a job-share with Mary-Anne Edwards, she led Nothe Fort through the Covid pandemic and achieved £1.4m of investment and the Visit England Best Small Visitor Attraction award. Employed on a freelance contract with Weymouth Museum since 2023, she is determined to get that new museum for Weymouth and knows that the committed team of trustees and volunteers are too!
