From Sap to Syrup

Breaking News: Did you know that maple syrup doesn't come straight out of the tree sugary and ready to add to pancakes?! After this session, though, you'll know how to make your very own maple syrup! Join us at Latodami Nature Center to learn about maple syrup and make your very own. Latodami Nature Center is located in North Park and covers about 250 acres of wetlands, ponds, forests, and fields in the Park. While you're visiting, check out the 1914 dairy barn on the property!

The first half of the maple syrup program will take place in the barn’s heated classroom covering storytelling and history of maple syrup making. The second half of the program will be outside showing demonstrations of how to tap a maple tree, how to turn sap into syrup, and a taste of our very own homemade maple syrup.
