Immerse yourself in music at the Indiana Fiddle Frolic! From workshops to jams to performances, you can play and enjoy old time music with fellow music lovers.
Dates: Friday, Sept 19 3:00pm until Sunday, Sept 21 10:00am
Location: Ross Camp, 9225 W 75 S, West Lafayette, IN 47906
Accommodations: On-site campground or on-site lodge.
What to Expect: workshops and jams with instructors, catered meals, presentations, instructor show, and downtime
Accessibility: Activities will take place in the dining hall, in the lodge, or outside in the shade. The two buildings are about .25 mile apart. You can drive or walk. The road is paved.
The dining room does not have any stairs.
The lodge does have stairs to get to the bedrooms, but not to get to the programming room.
Instructors, Instruments, Levels:
Beginners: If you have been playing for 1 year or less and/or if you do not yet feel comfortable playing by ear or with others, these are the instructors for you!
Allie Burbrink - fiddle, banjo, mandolin, relentless encouragement
Sean Hoffman - fiddle, guitar, ukulele
Ellen Coplin - cello, guitar, bass, singing
Intermediate: If you've been playing for 1-5 years and/or you can somewhat play by ear and understand how to play along in a moderate-tempo jam, you're ready to learn more tunes, songs, and techniques from these instructors:
Jill Vass - fiddle, Indiana/Illinois tunes
Jude Odell - clawhammer banjo, song repertoire
Charlie Beck - fiddle, various banjo styles, favorite festival bangers
Charmaine Slaven - fiddle, backup guitar, flatfoot dancing, jam skills
Advanced: If you have been playing longer than 5 years and/or are comfortable in high-speed jams and crave obscure or unusual tunes to add to your already-large repertoire, these are the folks for you:
Chirps Smith - fiddle, repertroire
Paul Tyler - mandolin, fiddle, Indiana tunes
Steve Rosen - clawhammer banjo, backup guitar, fiddle, boisterous singing, general antics
