Volunteer to help Friends of Alum Creek & Tributaries (FACT) remove invasive plants and honeysuckle bushes, and clean-up any trash from within Westerville's Boyer Nature Preserve on Saturday, October 25 starting at 9 AM. This is being held in conjunction with national Make a Difference Day.
Meet at 452 E. Park Street, Westerville, OH The park entrance is located at the corner of Park Street & Orchard Lane. Please wear outdoor work clothes (long pants and long sleeves) and sturdy shoes or work boots. Bring shovels, loppers, bow saws if you have them. Various tools, gloves, trash bags, beverages and some snacks will be provided to volunteers.
This gorgeous wetland like setting in an urban environment are rare and serve as natural habitat for a large variety of wildlife species such as frogs, turtles, snakes, fish, birds, and unusual aquatic plants and diverse insects.
The mission of Friends of Alum Creek and Tributaries (FACT) is to preserve and protect the quality and beauty of the Alum Creek watershed and promote environmentally responsible recreation, educational opportunities, and citizen participation at many levels. FACT is a local non-profit volunteer based organization serving as the environmental steward for the Alum Creek lower watershed within Franklin and Delaware counties.
