The Fabulous Women of Cafe Society a Lunch to Benefit Sojourner House

Come to a chic summer lunch event at The Cafe in Westerly, Rhode Island to celebrate the lives of the fabulous women who were the bold and beautiful influencers of the early 20th Century! Hilary Pierce, Curator of The Cafe's top-notch art collection will host a fun romp through Cafe Society with a talk filled with art, music and intriguing stories of women like Dorothy Parker, Zelda Fitzgerald and The Cafe's favorite artist, early feminist illustrator Barbara Shermund - a delicious lunch will be served with a champagne cocktail and cash bar. 1920s,30s and 40s inspired vintage attire is welcome and encourged!

Proceeds will benefit the important work of Sojourner House, a non-profit shelter that serves the needs of women in crisis in Rhode Island.

Hilary Pierce is President of Art Collector’s Athenaeum and Curator of both The Cafe Art Collection and The Bemelmans Gallery at Ocean House, which has been written up in Town and Country, Barron's and Conde Nast Traveller Magazines. In 2023, she curated a feature exhibition "Feminine Wiles: The Art and Life of Barbara Shermund" for The United, which was a highlight of the summer's cultural events and heralded by the art critic of The Boston Globe. Since then Hilary has returned to The Cafe and Ocean House to give sold out talks about the art and the artists lives featured in these collections. Hilary's talks are fun, insightful and engaging. Her curatorial focus is on the work of women, people of color, and immigrants in the 20th Century in United States.
