Mark Your Calendars! Our 3rd Annual ESCF Charity Golf Tournament is set for October 27th. A day full of fun, golf, laugher, and the chance to support those in need!
This tournament is held to support our ESCF Scholarship Fund and a Community Charity of Choice. In the past two years, we have raised over $17,000 through the dedication of our community.
The ESCF Scholarship Fund provides the ability for those with economic need to continue their pursuit of health and wellness!
For 2025, we have chosen the STAAR Foundation as our Community Charity of Choice in honor of Taylor O'Brien, one of the best friends of ESCF Athlete, Jordyn. The STAAR Foundation provides funding for research and support for low-grade serous ovarian cancer.
In September 2022, 28-year-old Taylor was diagnosed with stage 3C low-grade serous ovarian cancer (LGSOC)—a rare and persistent form of the disease that primarily affects younger individuals. What began as vague stomach issues earlier that year led Taylor on a months-long journey through doctors and uncertainty. After numerous tests and no clear answers, a CT scan on September 6th revealed multiple masses in her pelvis. The very next day, Taylor and her loved ones sought urgent care at the University of Pennsylvania, where a week of thorough evaluations led to a probable diagnosis: stage 3 ovarian cancer.
On September 30th, Taylor underwent major surgery that successfully removed all visible cancer—but at great cost. She lost both ovaries, her uterus, spleen, two thirds of her colon and omentum. Since then, Taylor has faced the ups and downs of this disease with resilience, grace, and strength. In recent months, she’s enjoyed a period of stability, and we’re holding on to that momentum—one day, one victory at a time.
Our Community Charity of Choice proceeds from this event will fund critical research and advocacy efforts for LGSOC, a rare subtype of ovarian cancer that often resists standard chemotherapy, has a high rate of recurrence, and currently receives no dedicated federal research funding. The average age of diagnosis is just 45, underscoring the urgent need for increased awareness and investment.
But there’s hope.
Earlier this year, the FDA approved the first targeted therapies—AVMAPKI and FAKZYNJA—for recurrent LGSOC. These groundbreaking treatments mark a major step forward, made possible.
