Have you ever wanted to learn how to read Tarot Cards for yourself or others? Maybe you have a deck or two that you've played around with, or maybe you're completely new to Tarot! Either way, this workshop is for you!
Tarot has been gaining in popularity in recent years. In addition to divination practices, it is now used by fiction writers to support creativity; role-playing game designers; counselors; life coaches; and even therapists to help people break through mental blocks, outdated ways of looking at our lives, and the limitations of "left-brained" thinking. Regardless of your purpose for taking this class, there will be information presented that is relevant to you!
During our time together, we will cover the basics to provide you with a foundation to understand what Tarot is, the many ways it can be used, and more! You'll leave with the confidence to begin working with Tarot for introspection, personal growth, and guidance.
Topics we will cover include:
*Tarot versus Oracle Decks - what is the difference?
*Authentic versus pirated/"fake" decks and why you should care
*The Structure of a Tarot Deck
*Understanding Symbols and Intuition
*Connecting with Your Deck
*Basic Tarot Spreads
*Practicing Reading with a Partner
This is an introductory workshop, on which I will be building "special topics" classes that go more deeply into Tarot symbolism, intuitive practices, and more complex reading techniques.
We will be learning the Rider-Waite-Smith system of Tarot. Please bring a Rider-Waite themed deck with you to the class if you have one; you are also welcome to borrow a deck from our library for the duration of the workshop.
A binder with handouts will be provided to you so that you have helpful references to continue on your Tarot journey.
