Turtle Island is a stunning outdoor performance that brings the Haudenosaunee (Iroquois) Creation Story to life through a giant inflatable puppet, traditional dance, and live performance.
Created by internationally renowned French company Plasticiens Volants and guided by G.Peter Jemison, faithkeeper of the Senecas, Heron Clan, artist, historian, and educator, Turtle Island features choreography by Sky Woman Iroquois Dance Theater in a story about the birth of the world atop the turtle’s back - a story of resilience, connection, and care for the Earth that speaks across generations and cultures.
This project represents a unique fusion of Indigenous storytelling and large-scale visual spectacle. During the performance, the Haudenosaunee (Iroquois) dancers will tell the story of the creation of the world according to the local Native-American cultural mythology.
Don’t hesitate to join us for this thought-provoking and engaging performance!
