About this Event

Celebrating 100 years of music and culture, the block party features storytelling, music, dance, and interactive stations honoring the Historic Northwest’s Cultural Legacy, sponsored by Related Ross Foundation in partnership with the Miami Dolphins’ Third Annual Football UNITES™ Jason Jenkins Days of Service.


Rohi’s Readery, with support from Related Ross Foundation and volunteers in partnership with Miami Dolphins’ Third Annual Football UNITES™ Jason Jenkins Days of Service, will host Rhythms of Humanity, a free, family-friendly celebration honoring 100 years of music, culture, and literacy in the Historic Northwest. The block party-style event will take place on Saturday, October 25 from 2–6 p.m. and invites children, families, and community members to explore the past, present, and future of music and culture through performances, storytelling, food, and interactive stations. Commemorating two centennial legacies including 100 years of Rohini’s life, whose spirit continues to inspire generations at Rohi’s Readery, and the 100 th anniversary of the Sunset Lounge, the iconic cultural landmark that shaped music, joy, and Black excellence in the Historic Northwest.


Rhythms of Humanity honors the Historic Northwest’s rich cultural heritage, elevate children’s voices, and promote creativity, literacy, and community engagement. Attendees can look forward to a variety of interactive experiences, including:

  • 100 Minutes of Storytelling: Four 15-minute sessions with storytimes from special guests like retired NFL athlete and former Miami Dolphins player Brandin Bryant.
  • Neurosensory Room designed to support diverse sensory needs.
  • Inclusive Musical Play: Hands-on music stations showcasing neurodivergent strategies for music therapy and instrument-making
  • The Peaceful Press: A quiet creative space for button-making and artistic expression, emphasizing neurodivergent sensory accessibility.
  • Make Your Own Book / Build Your Own Library: Stations guiding participants through the full process of creating and illustrating a book
  • Literacy & Lyrics Stations: Interactive karaoke activities that connect music and literacy with FLAVAR
  • Get Moving: Ongoing dance parties in partnership with Jump Rope and Go Bananas and Cleveland Clinic 
  • TJ Spot Roller Rink: Honoring the legacy of Motown, funk, and roller skating in the community.
  • Student Performances: Featuring U.B. Kinsey/ Palmview Elementary student performances.

The celebration will also support community needs, with the goal of collecting 100 diapers and 100 pairs of shoes for local families.
