Mastering the Art of Rendering Beeswax With Virginia Webb
Join us for an enlightening evening with Virginia Webb, a third-generation beekeeper and world-renowned honey producer, as she shares her time-tested techniques for rendering clean, beautiful beeswax. In this hands-on lecture, Virginia will walk us through the entire wax rendering process, from cappings and comb to the finished product. Learn how to clean, filter, and prepare beeswax for use in candles, balms, and more. Whether you’re a hobbyist or a seasoned beekeeper, this session will give you the confidence and knowledge to make the most of every part of your hive.No registration is required for the Fun Meeting.

Bonus: Stick around for more! This Friday night lecture will be followed by a Saturday Candle Making Workshop with Virginia Webb. It’s a great opportunity to put your wax rendering knowledge into practice. Registration for the workshop will be required; stay tuned for more.

About Virginia Webb:

Virginia Webb is a full-time commercial beekeeper and queen producer. For over fifty years, she has championed the role of honeybees in sustaining global agriculture.

She is a third-generation beekeeper. She started beekeeping in 1963 when her father, Joe Stephens, gave her a beehive for her birthday. She currently manages over 150 bee colonies. Her apiaries are located in areas ideal for producing the finest Sourwood Honey.

Her sourwood honey has won five gold medals at the World Honey Show, sponsored by Apimondia, for best honey in the world. She also won the 2025 World Black Jar Honey Contest, in which honey is judged solely on taste.

She has worked with beekeepers in nearly every state and traveled to Europe and the Caribbean to teach beekeeping on behalf of the U.S. Department of Agriculture. For over 50 years, Virginia has provided an important service by teaching others about honeybees and their role in agriculture. She speaks to school children, church groups, civic organizations, and retirement centers nationwide each year.

Virginia Webb is the only individual in the U.S. to hold three master beekeeper certifications: Georgia, Florida and Eastern Apiculture Society.
