— The Wooster Square Italian Immigrant Historical Society (WSIIHS) is
planning a special visit to St. Lawrence Cemetery in West Haven on the afternoon of Monday,
September 15, to honor and reconnect with the memory of the original Italian immigrants
interred there.
For many descendants, the exact burial locations of their ancestors have been lost to time. This
visit offers a meaningful opportunity to rediscover those connections. Cemetery staff will be
on-site to help locate family plots, and WSIIHS will coordinate in advance to gather the
necessary information to assist in this process.
If you have a relative you believe may be buried at St. Lawrence but do not know their
exact gravesite, we invite you to participate. Please send the full name and, if possible, the date
of death of your loved one. If you're unsure of the date, we may be able to help using
genealogical tools such as Ancestry.com.
This event is part of WSIIHS’s ongoing mission to preserve and celebrate the legacy of Wooster
Square’s Italian American community.
