Southend Shakedown

Southend Shakedown is (or was, depending on the year) a big motorcycle ride-out and gathering in Southend-on-Sea, Essex, UK. Traditionally it happened on Easter Monday: thousands of bikers would ride from places like London or the South East and end up along Southend’s seafront. The day usually turned into a mini–bike festival—rows of bikes, food stalls, charity fundraising, that kind of vibe.

It’s not some underground thing; just a large, loud, cheerful motorcycle takeover of the promenade. Some years it’s been cancelled or changed because of logistics and policing costs, but the core idea stays the same: riders cruise to the coast and hang out.
