Maria Eppes, a beloved local early education teacher, began her adoption journey at the start of 2021—a path filled with hope, paperwork, and perseverance. When she was united with newborn Evangeline in Florida on March 20th, 2024, she thought her dream had finally come true.
After returning home to Illinois, Evangeline has been in Maria’s care every single day—she’s the only mother Evangeline has ever known. But the road to make their family official has been filled with obstacles: denied adoption grants, immoral practices by the Florida agency, being turned down for loans, and already paying $50,000 toward the process.
Now, one final hurdle remains—and that’s where our community comes in. 💪
