The coming of the longest night of the year may find you seeking Peace in the growing darkness. It may also find you anticipating the Light that will surely come again. Join us for a contemplative advent practice guided by the book Watch for the Light – Readings for Advent and Christmas. Participants are encouraged to obtain their own copy of the book to fully engage with the daily readings and reflections. (

This book is a collection of essays from a broad array of largely Christian traditions, each of the short daily readings will invite us to enter personally into the significance of the season, and our
holy place within it. The book includes writings by Sylvia Plath, Meister Eckhart, Dorothy Day, T.S. Eliot, Thomas Merton, Gustavo Gutiérrez, Eberhard Arnold, G. M. Hopkins, Annie Dillard,
Edith Stein, Thomas Aquinas, Dorothee Soelle, Oscar Romero, and other writers who will both comfort and challenge us in our contemplative endeavors.
There will be a weekly opportunity to gather in a grace-filled and lightly structured conversation about how the readings have spoken to each of us. Readings start November 24, but our first meeting will be on December 2 from 5:30 to 6:30 pm downstairs at Wenatchee FUMC. We will be every Tuesday evening till January 6. There is a Zoom option to join as well!
