Energy, Connection, and the Horse with Jasmine Desirae and Stevie Johns

What if slowing down with your horse changed everything? This clinic is about learning to really listen to your horse and to yourself. We’ll take a step back from the fast pace and get curious about how we move, breathe, and show up with our horses. It’s not fancy. It’s honest, hands-on horsemanship—blended with energy work and body awareness. You’ll learn how to feel what’s going on underneath the surface, read your horse better, and build a partnership that feels good to both of you, whether you’re on the ground or in the saddle. We’ll blend horsemanship with energy awareness and somatic (body-based) tools. You’ll learn how horses use energy to communicate, and how you can meet them in that space with breath, body language, and a quieter kind of leadership. In this clinic, you’ll explore:

• How to read your horse—and yourself—physically, emotionally, and energetically

• What your horse might be reflecting back to you without saying a word

• Why your presence matters more than your pressure

• How to recognize the places your body resists movement—and how that affects your horse

• How horses communicate through energy, and how to meet them there

• How to develop feel, not just in your hands, but in your whole self

• How horses naturally ground themselves—and how they help ground us too

• How to show up as the kind of person your horse wants to be around.

We’ll also introduce you to:

• Simple breathwork and body scans

• Micro-movement practices to notice and release tension

• Five Element theory (from Traditional Chinese Medicine) to better understand emotional and energetic patterns

• And of course, whatever the horses decide to show us. They’re the real teachers—we’re just here to listen.

About Your Instructors: Stevie Johns, a USU alum, has been in the horse industry professionally for over a decade. She owns and runs Blue Grass Estate in Plain City, UT—a family-friendly facility focused on connection-based riding and training. She has a deep love for working equitation, reining, team sorting, and helping people find joy and confidence in their horse partnerships. For Stevie, it's not about ribbons—it's about relationships.

Jasmine Desirae is an energy and relationship mentor who brings in years of experience in somatic healing, breathwork, and the Five Elements. She works with horses as partners in teaching people how to come home to their bodies, regulate emotions, and connect from a deeper place of trust and stillness. This is an introductory clinic—a place to slow down, tune in, and learn to move with your horse instead of against them. If this way of working feels like home, we’ll be offering a 5-day immersion to go even deeper. Come as you are. Bring your curiosity.
