Dan Hayles presents ON THE GRID - original music for large jazz ensemble (piano trio, wood/brass quintet/string quartet)
On The Grid is about the marking, passing and embellishing of time. The Grid is life, time, tone, tonality, rhythm, gravity, momentum, and style.
The musicians work at times together, other times separately as three ensembles (horn quintet, string quartet, piano trio), and other times as combinations, conversing and improvising amongst themselves. The music covers a selection of different styles and feels within and outside the jazz sound - and it's ready for your participation as a listener of melodies, dancer of beats, expresser of moods, theorist of lore, interpreter of meaning, and feeler of feels.
