Gene Schaeffer has been interested in the Norfolk & Western Railway since the 1970’s when his parents purchased a home adjacent to this railroad in the community of Bethel Park. In 1975 at age 19 Santa Claus stuffed Gene’s first 35mm camera in his Christmas stocking beginning a 50 year adventure in photographing the operations and physical characteristics of this local railroad.
Gene Schaeffer has self published 4 of his own pictorial books on the Norfolk & Western line and two others, the Montour and the Western Maryland.
Gene will give an in-depth look at the Norfolk & Western along its entire route. If you’re into railroading this is the presentation for you. Gene photos and knowledge of the local railroad is amazing and will be a very entertaining experience.
