Far and away one of the most acclaimed films of 2025 (“The best doc of the year” according to New York Magazine; a “must-see magnum opus” per Rolling Stone; “the most essential investment of time you can make in a movie theatre this year” according to the New York Times; “A staggering portrait… An astonishing epic” says The New Yorker; Frederick Wiseman says that it is “An important film”; etc etc), My Undesirable Friends, Part I: Last Air in Moscow starts as an intimate portrait of Gen Z journalists in Russia at the independent channel TV Rain, who upon Russia’s invasion of Ukraine were branded “foreign agents,” forced to tag their reportage with a disclaimer that they are serving foreign powers, and worse. Seeing how authoritarianism works, its effects, and how some brave journalists react to it in real time feels more relevant to citizens of the world with each passing day.
My Undesirable Friends, Part I: Last Air in Moscow will play in two sections, “Crackdown” and “First Week of War.” Each section is separate admission.
In Russian with English subtitles.
