Science on Tap - Gray Wolves, Ecology and Management in California

Join us for September’s Science on Tap - featuring Nate Libal, a wolf specialist for the California Department of Fish and Wildlife. His presentation, " Gray Wolves – Ecology and Management in California," will explore a recent history of wolf populations in California, including current pack numbers and distribution as well as ongoing research. Nate will also discuss the many challenges of managing wolves including the complex relationship between wolves and livestock.

Prior to joining CDFW in 2024, Nate spent 10 years working for wolf management programs in Oregon and Wisconsin. Nate holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Natural Resource Conservation from the University of British Columbia and a Master of Science in Wildlife Science from Mississippi State University.

Science on Tap is a monthly event co-hosted by the Trinity River Restoration Program and the Trinity County Resource Conservation District.
