Opening Reception (Meet The Artist) is Nov. 24 from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm.
ARTIST STATEMENT:
Retirement has provided valuable opportunities to further develop my interests in quilting and gardening. I approached this new phase with enthusiasm, eager to broaden my skills through dedicated practice in both disciplines. I welcome the chance to explore and acquire new knowledge.
During my early years, I found garment construction challenging—my siblings excelled at sewing. This led me to pursue needlework, beginning with embroidery, followed by crochet, both of which proved to be highly rewarding. As a new mother, I created my first quilt and discovered that assembling fabric squares was more manageable than traditional garment techniques. My appreciation for textiles grew as I explored various materials and patterns.
Over the past five years, I have expanded my expertise to encompass collage, precision piecing, miniatures, wool appliqué while incorporating original designs. I have learned to value my progress, while reflecting on the growth that comes with experience. My attention to detail lends itself well to intricate work, and I continue to experiment with diverse methods in fabric collage and wool appliqué. The pieces presented in this exhibit reflect my artistic development. It is my hope that others will find enjoyment in viewing these works.
