Coming to Waverly, Missouri October 21, 2025 is First Impact.
First Impact is a FREE 90-minute program designed to support both parents and teens during the GDL licensing transition. We help parents and teens understand Missouri’s Graduated Driver License (GDL) law, provide practical tools to guide the teen safely through the learning process, and offer resources that promote safer driving habits. We are funded largely by MoDOT and administered through the University of Missouri.
What you can expect from attending a First Impact program:
Clear explanations of the GDL law and what each provision of the GDL means
Tips on how parents can be an effective coach during practice driving
Insight into the top risks for teen drivers—and how to reduce them
Strategies to set expectations, rules, and boundaries at home
Parents who attend the First Impact program leave feeling more confident and better equipped to support/coach their new driver—and more connected to a community of parents who are navigating the same journey. Since we began doing First Impact presentations throughout Missouri in 2016, we are approaching 575 presentations and close to 10,000 people that have attended First Impact presentations. I am attaching additional information about the First Impact program.
