This is a colorful, creative no-school-day workshop before the Thanksgiving rush! Kids will paint abstract landscapes inspired by real places, focusing on bold color choices and making the art their own.
TIME TO CREATE ON A NO-SCHOOL DAY
Looking for something fun and creative for your young artist to do the day before Thanksgiving, or need to get the kids out of the house for a couple hours while you prep the last of your Thanksgiving meal or run to the grocery store? Or maybe you have family in town and want the kids to go create something wonderful together!
FOCUS ON COLOR
In this workshop, we will learn color mixing to create dynamic abstract landscapes, using vibrant acrylic paints to explore how color can shape mood, space, and atmosphere. We'll learn techniques for creating color schemes, warm vs. cool tones, and how to layer paint to create depth and energy.
GUIDED, BUT OPEN-ENDED
In this class, artists won't just copy what the teacher is showing you! Artists will work from a selection of landscape photos (or bring your own!) for inspiration, taking colors, shapes, and a composition of their own create their own unique artwork. The end result? A totally unique, expressive landscape painting that they’ll be proud to hang at home (or give as a gift!!)
FOR YOUNG ARTISTS OF ALL SKILL LEVELS
This workshop is a great fit for all skill levels, whether you are a new or seasoned painter. Please come in clothes you are willing to get paint on (we try our best to stay clean, but sometimes paint can get messy!)
YOUR TEACHER
Your teacher is the wonderful Jessica Stortz! She a talented teacher and artist, and who some students might know as their art teacher at Heritage Elementary!
