Third Act Maine’s Waterville Hub is hosing a Sun Day event at the Universalist Unitarian Church of Waterville from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm. All are welcome!
Third Actor Dick Thomas will briefly speak to the urgency of addressing climate change, followed by a presentation by Revision Energy about home backup batteries and solar panels and solar farms. Maine Community Power Cooperative will describe their program; they lease one-acre plots and pay $4,000 a year to set up a solar farm on properties unsuitable for other uses.
We’ll learn about:
* increased climate migration from southern and western states to New England due to climate change
* how home battery systems can work when the power is out
* advantages of various solar options (rooftop solar versus the many solar farm programs being offered)
* how to get paid to have a solar farm on an acre of your own fields
Sun Day is a global day of action on September 21, 2025, celebrating the unstoppable rise of clean energy and the movement to leave fossil fuels behind. Timed with the fall equinox—a moment of transition—Mainers are coming together to celebrate the power of the sun and wind, the energy sources that can power our world without pollution or profiteering.
