This hands-on makerspace workshop is a collaboration between Engineer To Empower and Hatch Makerspace. In this workshop, six young women ages 14-18 will work together to build and assemble a Phoenix Hand, a 3D-printed assistive device designed to support individuals with upper limb differences. Participation is guaranteed only for those who register with this Eventbrite.
Participants will learn basic engineering concepts, follow guided assembly instructions, and gain hands-on experience using assembly tools while exploring how mechanical components work together. At the end of the workshop, each participant will be able to take home the assistive device they help build. The owkrshop highlights how engineering and design can be used to hmake a positive impact in the world. No prior enginerring experience is required.
MAKER CARDS
All vistors to Hatch must show their Hatch Maker Card or sign a waiver to receive a Maker Card. Visitors under 18 must have a parent/guardian present to sign the waiver. Visitors under twelve years old must be accompanied by a guardian at all times.
LOCATION
This event takes place at WFPL's Hatch Makerspace, located at 20 Summer Street in Watertown, just a few blocks away from the Library.
