Join us for a 6-week progressive therapeutic yoga series that builds on a foundational bone-strengthening yoga practice. This Level 2 series, led by a certified yoga therapist, is ideal for those who have completed a beginner-level bone health yoga series or have a consistent yoga practice and are comfortable holding poses for 20-30 seconds.
Building upon evidence-based yoga principles, this series will introduce a wider range of weight-bearing postures and explore holding them for longer durations to progressively stimulate bone growth and improve balance. We will continue to emphasize postural alignment to strengthen key areas vulnerable to bone loss, such as the spine and hips, while incorporating more variations and nuanced engagement. The therapeutic approach ensures continued personalized attention and modifications to address individual needs and support deeper exploration within each pose.
In this Level 2 series, you will:
- Expand Your Pose Repertoire: Explore a broader range of effective yoga postures that promote bone density. Modifications and strategic use of props will still be offered to ensure accessibility and proper alignment.
- Increase Holding Times: Progressively extend the duration of weight-bearing and strengthening poses, allowing for deeper muscle engagement and enhanced bone loading. This sustained engagement is key to stimulating bone growth.
- Deepen Home Practice: Continue to incorporate these techniques into your home practice to facilitate the bone-building process outside of session.
- Enhance Body Awareness: Cultivate a more refined understanding of your body's alignment and engagement in each pose, allowing for more effective movement with personalized guidance from a yoga therapist.
- Connect with an Evolving Community: Continue to connect with others dedicated to proactive bone health in a supportive and encouraging environment, sharing experiences and insights as you deepen your practice.
This Level 2 series is suitable for:
- Participants of a beginner-level bone health yoga series.
- Individuals with a consistent yoga practice who are familiar with basic yoga postures.
- Those comfortable holding foundational standing poses for approximately 20-40 seconds.
- Individuals looking to further challenge their strength, balance, and bone density through yoga.
Prerequisite: Completion of a beginner-level bone health yoga series or consistent experience with basic yoga postures.
Note: While modifications will still be offered, this Level 2 series will involve longer holds and a more dynamic practice than a beginner series. Please ensure you meet the prerequisites or consult with the teacher if you have any questions about your suitability for this level.
