Outside Mullingar requires four actors who can discuss serious subjects in a light manner so that humor can be found in these subjects. All four characters are from Ireland and will need to have an Irish accent for the productions. You may try an accent during auditions but it is not necessary.
Performances of Outside Mullingar will be Nov. 14, 15, 16, 21, 22, 23.
Summary:
Anthony Rielly and Rosemary Muldoon grew up next to each other on two farms in Ireland. Rosemary has been in love with Anthony since childhood, and is convinced that he will eventually love her in return. After forty years, the two are still living next to each other, instead of together, and with a small land feud between the two families, it seems unlikely that romance will ever happen.
Roles:
Rosemary Muldoon – female, late 30s, strong willed woman
Anthony Reilly – male, early 40s, unsure of himself
Tony Reilly – male, mid 70s, set in his ways and beliefs
Aoife Muldoon – female, early 70s, in ill health and in mourning.
