On Saturday September 20, join DMV Music Alliance, featuring Suspicious Package with local bands Running Late and Durty Neil at Dupont Underground for a one night festival to support local music and arts in DC!

• The Alliance aims to foster a thriving music scene in the DMV region by providing free resources and support to local musicians and music professionals
• Dupont Underground is the city's premier urban arts venue, a former streetcar station transformed into an art and cultural center

Suspicious Package

Founded in 2010, Suspicious Package may be DC's only band containing two Pulitzer Prizes and an Oscar. Playing a mix of rock, pop, blues and country hits spanning the 1950s to 2000s, they have performed at many bars, charities, Embassies, Washington Nationals Ballpark, Andrews Air Force Base, the USS Intrepid aircraft carrier in New York City, an 11th century castle arena on national television in Italy, and have opened for Kevin Bacon, Dierks Bentley, and Billy Bob Thornton. Suspicious Package has performed Rolling Stones songs with the Rolling Stones' Chuck Leavell and performed ABBA for Her Majesty Queen Silvia of Sweden.

Running Late

Running Late, formed in 2024, is a Maryland/DC-based rock-blues band featuring gritty, punchy songs from the classic rock era, along with originals that reflect the same vibe and improvisational spirit. Tad Farrington, a drummer, singer and attorney, handles vocals and percussion. David Nather, an editor, plays rhythm guitar and solos in a melodic slide style that befits his Texas roots. He also plays bass. Wyn Hornbuckle, a humble civil servant – a veteran of southern-fried punk rock bands in his teens and 20s – is on drums. Michael McAuliff, a reporter and editor, plays bass and guitar – with a glint of Motorhead and Thin Lizzy in all he does. Glenn Thrush, another reporter, grew up with Mike in Brooklyn. He plays guitar, sings and writes songs.

Durty Neil

Durty Neil ™ draws from the relatively obscure canon of the prolific intergenerational iconoclast Neil Young, “songs that never or rarely got radio airplay.” The Durty Neil ethos is a vibe, you know it when you hear it. Then Sam calls it, if it is indeed Durty. Born one summer afternoon on a Takoma Park screen porch, but conceived long ago in the dank squalor of off-campus basements and well-worn vinyl, these DMV neighbors set aside most electric appurtenances of their other musical projects to conjure a stripped down sound of cajon (Sam), mandolin and bass (Adam), fiddle (Ben), acoustic guitars (Jay and Marco), acoustic guitar leads (David - of many bands most recently Groovadelics), and harmonica/accordian (veteran DMV singer/songwriter/Cravin’ Dog Caldwell). High lonesome vocals and harmonies channel only the durtiest, darkest from Zuma, On the Beach, Tonight's the Night and others.
