Against the backdrop of today's devastating wars, runaway climate change, unconstrained artificial intelligence, and other factors fueling longstanding inequality and injustice, global order appears fragile and in flux. While the apex of the global cooperation system, the United Nations will begin its ninth decade on October 24, 2025. The erosion of multilateral norms, laws, and institutions challenges the very core of efforts to build a just and stable world order.
Bringing unique perspectives to the challenge of a reimagined global order, American University Distinguished Professor of International Relations Dr. Amitav Acharya will introduce his new book The Once and Future World Order: Why Global Civilization Will Survive the Decline of the West, and Quincy Institute Executive Vice President Dr. Trita Paris will share recommendations from the Better Order Project: Toward a Better Security Order. Director of the Stimson Center's Global Governance, Justice & Security Program, Dr. Richard Ponzio, will moderate a brief dialogue on reimagining global order before opening-up to Q&A.
