The Big Chair
1001-1199 V Street Southeast, Washington, United States
On this 6.2 mile, easy-paced book club run, we'll envision 1970s Anacostia as we run the same streets Nephthys's haunted Plymouth ferried troubled passengers through.
This story revolves around Nephthys, who drives anyone in need all over Anacostia; Amber Kinwell, whose dreams accurately predict death; and Dash, who is too young to understand the danger he’s in. (Please be advised this book deals with child sexual abuse.)
On the route for this Read & Run on the Road event, created and led by me (Chelsey Stone), we’ll stop at several different locations to visit the significant places throughout the story.

PREPARE: As this event is a book club run, it focuses on the plot, characters, and story. Attendees are strongly encouraged to read the book ahead of time to have the best experience. There is runner participation in the stops and opportunities for discussion, thoughts, and questions—similar to a traditional book club.
Physical and digital copies of the book are available at the DC Public Library. Copies of the book will be available for purchase and author signature at Busboys and Poets.
INCLEMENT WEATHER PLAN: If weather creates unsafe conditions, we will hold the discussion at Busboys and Poets (Anacostia location) at 11:00 a.m. I will inform you no later than Sunday, October 19 by 7 a.m. if an alternate event will take place.
Info: Meet at The Big Chair (1001-1199 V St SE, Washington, DC 20020) between 9:00–9:15 a.m. Sunday, Oct 19. The program will begin promptly at 9:15 a.m.
Info: We’ll run an easy-paced (~11:00 minute/mile), 6.2-mile route with several stops at site mentioned in the book.
Info: After the route, we’ll have ~15 minutes to settle in at Busboys and Poets (2004 Martin Luther King Jr Ave SE, Washington, DC 20020) 11 a.m. – noon to discuss the book with author Morowa Yejidé.
