Dayna Stephens Quartet

We're very excited that one of the country's top saxophonists, Dayna Stephens, will play Takoma Station. This will be your last chance for awhile to see Dayna because he will very shortly be moving to Portugal.

Originally from San Francisco, Dayna was a standout tenor saxophonist at Alameda High in the mid-1990's. He and a friend took over the jazz ensemble when the school's band director quit at the beginning of his junior year. Looking for more rigorous musical training he transferred to Berkeley High his senior year, and quickly became one of the vaunted jazz program's leading lights. These days he's one of the most respected saxophonists on the New York scene and internationally. In 2019 he was the first place recipient of the Downbeat Critics Poll in the category of Rising Star Tenor Saxophonist. He has performed or recorded with a long list of jazz luminaries, including Kenny Barron, Julian Lage, Brad Mehldau, Allison Miller, Linda May Han Oh, Gerald Clayton, and Ambrose Akinmusire.
