Time to get out of the cold and get creative! Let’s be inspired by birds and get crafting at the MLK library. We are so excited to spend our Sunday crocheting, sewing, origami-ing, and otherwise crafting with everyone. All are welcome, especially members of the LGBTQIA+ community, people with disabilities, BIPOC, and women. No prior birding or crafting experience necessary!
To learn more about the event (what to expect, where to meet, etc.), we’ve included details in this posting and FAQs.
If you have any questions about the event, have any accessibility needs, or have any other thoughts, please reach out to us at ZmJjICEgZG12IHwgZ21haWwgISBjb20=. We truly want to hear from you and want everyone to be able to feel bird joy to the fullest.
Registration is required for this event. Our events are free to help ensure they are accessible to all. However, we have a cap on the event to ensure compliance with library policies and supply requirements. We ask that you cancel your reservation if you cannot attend to ensure others are able to fill your spot. To cancel, either update your Eventbrite registration or email us at ZmJjICEgZG12IHwgZ21haWwgISBjb20=.
Bring your crafts or just bring your crafty selves! This event offers a buffet of crafting options for everyone to work on. The event will be anchored by four bird-themed activity stations with all supplies included:
You are welcome to bring additional supplies for any of the events above to help ensure that all who wish to participate in them can do so
We will also have extra tables for those who would like to bring their own craft to work on individually or with help from other attendees of the event.
MLK library is centrally located at 9th and G st NW, between the Metro Center and Gallery Place Metro stations. To get up to the fourth floor, where our room reservation is, there are wide hallways, elevators, and stairs.
Please read the FBC DMV Code of Conduct (opens in new tab) before attending the event. The Feminist Bird Club stands by a core set of Principles and the Code of Conduct is meant to explicitly place those principles into practice, lay out what behavior is and is not acceptable from our members, participants, and our leaders, and detail how we will work to enforce those principles. The Code of Conduct has a link that allows anyone to anonymously report a Code of Conduct violation or concerns about past behavior of a member, event participant, or leader.
