Calligraphy Workshop with Zahid Mayo

Urdu calligraphy is the art of decorative writing, which is influenced by the broader tradition of Islamic calligraphy.

Zahid Mayo will talk about the origins and history of calligraphy and then will show the participants how to make a pen (kallam) with bamboo. He will then teach the participants basic calligraphy.

We will provide pens and papers but feel free to bring your own.

No prior knowledge of calligraphy is needed.

We want our events to be accessible but we are encouraging $10 donations on the door to cover the cost.
