The event will be on ParkConnect shortly so be sure to sign up there! And let us know if you’re interested in joining the Friends of Tower Hill as a member!
The event will run the same as the previous events:
- We’ll all meet at the picnic area for an induction, safety briefing and to sign in
- Then we’ll depart and arrive at nest box ready to survey 30 minutes prior to last light
- Complete details and weather sections of data sheet
- Place yourself in a position you will be able to see animals moving in and out of nest box without a spotlight
- All begin observations from last light until for an hour
- Record all gliders observed and any incidental observations of other fauna
- Only use spotlight if needed to identify fauna, use the night sky to see silhouettes
- At the end of the hour return back to the meeting point for a debrief
And some things to bring:
- Appropriate clothing for weather (long shirt and pants recommended for mozzies and leeches!)
- Sturdy closed-toed shoes
- Torch (preferably with either a red light or red cellophane)
- Drinking water
- Snacks (something quiet is best)
- Phone with data and enough battery to last (or an extra battery pack)
- A pen
- Camping chair (optional but recommended)
Feel free to comment or message with any questions!
