Get hands-on with weeds and know how to tackle them! Join local ethnobotanical enthusiast and forager Chris Rockley (www.chrisrockley.com) for a practical workshop that will transform your view of weeds -from pesky invaders to valuable garden allies.
Explore how to:
- Identify local weeds at different stages, from seedlings to adults, and discover when they’re most likely to appear.
- Understand W**d reproduction cycles & seedbank and learn how to use this knowledge to your advantage.
- Master simple, effective hand-removal techniques - ditch the chemicals and keep your garden healthy.
- Turn weeds into resources: use them as mulch, fertiliser, or animal fodder, and learn which ones are edible or useful (and which to avoid).
- Spot potential “garden escapes” and prevent your favourite plants from becoming tomorrow’s weeds.
- Discover alternatives to herbicides and why going chemical-free is better for you and your garden.
- Bring along a sample of a W**d you are having trouble with and Chris can help to advise on how to tackle it.
Plus, take home a splash-proof guide to edible and useful weeds-perfect for your next foraging adventure!
Cost is $35 covering costs with donation to garden activities. Wear comfortable, warm clothes, bring a notepad and water bottle.
