Join Gulf Islands National Seashore in celebrating National Public Lands Day on September 27 by participating in another fishing activity at Fort Pickens!
Learn about knot tying, casting, and fishing responsibly (and perhaps earn your Junior Ranger Angler badge!).
The fishing activity will run 9 am–12 noon. Meet at the Fort Pickens Fishing Pier.
All fishing equipment and gear will be provided, including fishing poles, bait, and lifejackets for kids. We recommend wearing a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, and appropriate clothing for a day at the beach as well as water and snacks!
There is no fee to enter the Fort Pickens Area on National Public Lands Day and no fee or signup necessary for the program. Materials are first-come, first-served.
If fishing from the Fort Pickens Fishing Pier, no Florida license is required regardless of age or residency. For shoreline fishing, youth under the age of 16 do not need a license. Adults over the age of 65 with valid proof of age and Florida residency, such as a Florida Driver's License, do not need a license.
All adults not otherwise mentioned require a license to participate in shore fishing. Florida resident adults can obtain a free Saltwater Shoreline Fishing license from
