In the closing days of 2023 Warren’s part-time city council (after the election of course) pushed through a law almost doubling their own salaries. It wouldn’t be so obscene if they stopped there BUT, they included automatic pay raises tied to the single highest paid city worker. Here’s how we fix this travesty, the people’s petition that provides a fair deal for residents:
REPEAL THE PAY RAISE PETITION TITLE:
THIS CITIZEN’S INITIATIVE SEEKS TO REPEAL AND REPLACE THE EXCESSIVE COUNCIL PAY RAISES AND AUTOMATIC INCREASES FOR CITY POLITICIANS PASSED IN ORDINANCE 13287/2023 EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY UPON PASSAGE
1> Sets Council pay to reasonable amount
2> Freezes all elected pay to current value (not automatic on highest paid employee)
3> ALL Future politician pay changes MUST be decided by the voters at the ballot box.
We need over 1,000 signatures by July 31st, 2025 to have this initiative on the ballot this fall.
