Four Tops

The Four Tops stand as one of Motown’s most enduring and beloved groups, with a legacy that spans over seven decades. Formed in 1954 by Levi Stubbs, Renaldo “Obie” Benson, Lawrence Payton, and Abdul “Duke” Fakir, the group rose from Detroit’s music scene to worldwide fame with timeless hits like “Baby I Need Your Loving,” “I Can’t Help Myself (Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch),” and “Reach Out I’ll Be There.” Their signature harmonies and heartfelt performances helped define the Motown sound, earning them a place in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

Today’s lineup—Theo Peoples, Ronnie McNeir, Michael Brock, and Lawrence Roquel Payton (son of founding member Lawrence Payton)—continues to honor that rich tradition while carrying the Four Tops’ music into the next generation. With new projects on the horizon and the same unmistakable energy that made them legends, the Four Tops remain a cornerstone of American soul and R&B.
