THEATRE WORKSHOP – Auditioning for Musical Theatre

Workshop fee: $25 per attendee (16+ years to attend)
Attendance is limited to 15.
Lunch will be provided.
This hands-on workshop provides a unique opportunity for actors to receive firsthand advice on auditioning for a musical theater production from experienced casting team members. Facilitators will offer tips for preparation and music selection, share what to expect from the audition process, and provide direct feedback on how to improve your overall audition.
Please come prepared with 16-32 bars of sheet music that you would select for an audition.
Instructors include:
Karen Dalmer-Sheehy who is a music educator and vocalist with 20 years of experience providing vocal and music direction for school and community theater. She has served as the music director and pit conductor for several local productions, including Big Fish, Ragtime, and Young Frankenstein here at County Players. She loves performing and working with singers and actors of all ages and backgrounds.
Carlos Gomez who is a musical theater choreographer and performer from Monterrey, Mexico. Trained in Jazz, Ballet, and Tap, he continued his dance and vocal studies in Dallas, TX, before building a diverse career in Dallas and New York City. His credits include touring Canada and Europe with Mexico Day for the World Equestrian Games, choreographing for the University of Monterrey, and creating new works for Theater for the New City in NYC. He holds extensive regional credits and has been recently seen in four musical productions in the Hudson Valley. Passionate about storytelling through dance and song, Carlos fosters inclusive, creative spaces for artists to grow and thrive.
